Finally got a new keyboard

Post by Easto »

My old Microsoft (cheap) keyboard was really starting to go. I decided to give someone else a try. I bought a mechanical keyboard from Keychron. A Keychron V6. The mechanical feel, the long throw of the keys reminds me of when I was first learning to type in school. I'm really liking this thing and I've only had it for the last hour or so. If it lasts as long as it feels good I'll be really happy.

Mechanical keyboards are cool, the only drawback (for me) is they are kind of loud :)

One of the things I noticed that it does... when you use the Cap Locks key the colored light underneath the key changes color. So now, I can tell if it's on just by looking at the key. There's a ton of programmability too. I like having single function keys/macros setup in order to open and close my favorite programs. It helps keep me from reaching for my mouse.

1 year later...
This thing is really holding up well. I wish I could compare it against some of their other models but I don't have the money to have 3 or 4 spare keyboards laying around just so I can see how they perform. But so far I'm sold on this puppy.

(when you start to take a deep dive into this subject you hear about all the different switches and how you can change them out etc etc. I wonder what those other switches feel like compared to this?)

I have a couple of keyboards lying around, I have become increasingly particular over the years about having full sized arrow keys numbers pad on the side, full sized enter and shift keys, heh.

Same here. I learned to type on a manual typewriter in 9th grade. Ever since we've entered the computer age I will not settle for anything less that a full-size keyboard...I want a calculator layout on the side and all the arrows I can get!
