Your absolutely correct. I think its the schoolboy in him that he cannot resist trying to get by with something like "there is a slope in the road". I'd lay odds he knew exactly what he was saying and thought it clever of himself in so doing.
Like you i have noticed these things over time as well but in most cases i knew it was his humor more than anything but things being like they are today with all the PC people out there just poised to strike at the simplest of things they deem offensive care must be taken in public.
Many a politician has been caught off camera with much the same ensuing.
I wish people would lighten up and get a funnybone.
As to the striking of an employee, well no debate their imho. It could not be tolerated..
Lets hope he gets things back up elsewhere as i will miss him and the show. Not easy to find a dance partner either as it is a costly show to produce with all their travels etc. Someone with deep pockets an a sense of humor will be needed.
