Well, seems I've been away from the computers for a while and have lost track of things! Went to load up COD Advanced Warfare and lo & behold, my system (see sig) doesn't meet the minimum specs! What!?!?!?!
In the past few years, I've upgraded some components of my PC, but the mobo and CPU are the same as built back in 08-09, and I need some assistance putting together a new PC for gaming. Being out of computers for a few years, I've lost track of the mobo and CPU specs.
I don't want to break the bank, but do want to build a solid system. I'm an Asus mobo and Intel CPU fan, so that's about the only requirements.
Can you folks give me your thoughts on where you'd start? Thanks in advance!

well DDR4 just came out and is crazy expensive right now, so decide if you want to save money and use DDR3 which is just as fast right now at higher speeds for less money.
a budget would be nice to know and what games at what resolution you play at as well.
I'd like to stay under a grand if possible. I can use my existing PS, case, perhaps video card and SSD and hard drives. All that leaves me is a mobo, CPU and RAM. Maybe have to upgrade video card too.

Asus Sabertooth Mark ii
Intel Core i7-4790K
G.SKILL Sniper Series DDR3 1866 16 GB (2 x 4GB x 2 each)
CORSAIR Vengeance DDR3 1600 8GB (2 x 4GB)
CORSAIR HX Series 750W PS
I'm not sure which memory I'll use. I bought the Corsair first and then saw the GSkill 1866 for 16 GB and only a few bucks more, so I bought that too. One will go back.
Now all I have to do is wait for the PS and the RAM to get here........

If it runs fine and I don't get any errors, I'm sure I'll leave the 16 GB GSkill in.

Intel I7 is sweet as well, it will be waay faster than a Core 2 Duo.
I'm looking forward to putting it together this weekend!

Eventually I will. I bought a Zalman CPU cooler for it so I'll be ready when I decide to burn it in good!
