Irate customers

Post by Humboldt »

Just a pet peeve rant of mine...don't blow up at people that have no control over the situation.

Like watching travelers freak out at the airport and get pissed off at the person behind the counter...the person who has no control over flight arrivals and departures...it make no sense and you look like an *******.

At the bank today making a deposit. Took about 5 minutes...I had a personal deposit, deposit for a co-worker, and our business deposit and change order. 4 windows open, 2 people in line.

When I finished, my teller told the second guy (now the only person in line) that she was sorry but she had to close her window.

Guy freaked out.
"Are you kidding? Are you serious? You have 5 tellers back there, only 2 windows open, 10 people in line, and you're closing your f'ing window? Learn how to do your f'ing job"

He then storms out while I'm seriously considering telling him what a prick he was (not a good idea but already moving his direction)

Tellers behind the counter were busy closing the bank. 3 windows were still open. Line was never longer than 2 people and the wait for him had been less than 5 minutes.

What a prick. No point in taking it out on the tellers when they have no control over scheduling or bank procedures. If he was that pissed he should've asked for a manager.

Can't speak for others but as a retail manager I love pointing out to pissed off people that the world doesn't revolve around them, yet despite their being an ass we'll do the best we can to accommodate them ASAP.

I hate waiting in line just as much, if not more, that the average person, but my reaction is based on whether the clerk is chatting on a phone or with a friend, or if there job requires them to do something other than kiss your ass at that moment.

Relax. If at reaches becoming irate, direct it towards someone who can handle the problem better next time...ie a manager or supervisor, not the peons.

I like when people jump all over me because I tell them they owe X amount of money or when I show them how to do something that they expect me to do for them.

So you degrade the tellers to "peons" and have the nerve to post this rant? Stay classy, sir.

the person that came up with the slogan "The customer is always right", needs to be choked out with a shovel. JMHO. :D
Every normal man must be tempted at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.
I often wonder if the voices in my head ever get frustrated because I'm just too damn lazy to climb that clock tower.

Well, yeah.
No degrading involved, the tellers at that bank are awesome and I tell them this on a regular basis, and have voiced it to their managers several times over the years.
They do an excellent job.

Compared to those that make staffing protocol and procedure decisions in a bank chain, tellers are peons.
Compared to the owners of my store, I'm a peon.

Common usage to describe those employees on the lower end of a work force that carry out the directives of those actually making the calls. As they interact with customers, they face the most wrath about policies they have little control over and just carry out.

As I'm sure you know.

No offense intended.
