CENTOS Question

Post by ColdFusion »

Hey Guys,

Working on a final project for school and have been pulling our hair out trying to figure out how to get this to work. We are using CentOS 5.5.

Currently have a partition /dev/hda6 (4GB) that needs to be mounted to /home.

The specification is "No more than 800 files are expected to be stored in /home"

We know (or are pretty sure) it has to do with the number of inodes, but no matter what we do it ends up with 1024 inodes. Can't seem to figure out how to get it down to 800.

Any ideas??
Thanks!

What exactly is the problem? Just mount the partition as /home. If use ReiserFS there are no inodes!

It was an issue of limiting the number of inodes allowed to 800. Teacher actually ended up changing it to 1024 since 800 is not possible. Thanks anyways!

Must be an exercise as 4GB is awful small for /home!
