I love the RV0 series and have many of them out there in service, they're quite powerful and can handle many concurrent sessions (over 30,000) and quite a large network behind them.

It does have a bandwidth control section....it requires a bit of setup and configuration. You create rules based on type of traffic (http, or smtp, or dns)..and then specify max for upstream or downstream.

But I'm not sure what your setup is now, and what is actually causing problems. What is your current make/model router? And when you say "I have 30 computer using 15 each on a 6 meg.."....what do you mean by "using 15 each"?

When you say "when one person download no one else can surf".....specifically what do you mean by "download"..is this a straight http download? Or is this p2p/torrent stuff? If you have a basic router, yeah 1 person downloading, on a network of 30, could bring down the network. So moving to a more powerful SMB grade unit may help you out a lot.

Personally for an internet cafe, I'd go for a *nix router unit right away. Something like Untangle....you get ijncreased malware protection, and the ability to block torrent/p2p traffic so someone doesn't crush your network as they torrent away warez and infect your system/network with the poisoned content rife in that stuff. And with *nix router distros, put on basic hardware with a pair of good Intel NICs..you get the performance and features of a 10,000 dollar enterprise grade router for just dirt cheap!

If you have a basic Linksys router yeah torrents 'n that p2p crap will crush a little home grade router.
30x PCs on just a 6 meg DSL link....I'd seriously question allowing torrent/p2p stuff.

You do not have to know linux at all to build/install/manage a linux router distro....you just get a small form factor PC (or even a full sized if you want)...a gig or two of memory, have 2x good quality network cards in it (Intel, 3COM...best, many Broadcoms are good too). Download the ISO....burn it to CD. Boot from the ISO...and follow the hand holding installation wizard. Once it's installed...all the rest is done via a web based management utility that is just like how you manage a Stinksys or Nutgear router.

There's a tutorial over at linksysinfo.org that shows how to setup the bandwidth management on the rv0 series.
http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/showt ... hp?t=49330

You'll get good performance with the RV0....they can handle heavy loads, it will be better than your current home grade router. But a *nix router distro like Untangle, or even a basic one like m0n0wall or Smoothwall or PFSense..they'll blow the doors off of anything off the shelf router you could purchase for hundreds...even thousands of dollars.
