Is that an old school lunch box? I'm wondering if it's a Dick and Jane series.

yes,it's a old lunchbox,we sell lunchboxes on e3bay,as a matter of fact we just reach "Power Seller" & "Top Rated Seller" status the other day ! we are proud of that.

Looks like Dick and Jane to me too except Jane has blond hair.

Any other clues on the back or bottom?

no,the ONLY thing anywhere is a "made in the USA" stamped in the bottom.

FWIW my wife has a block puzzle from the 40's with that same picture. Her mom thought it may have been Dick and Jane but Humboldt is correct with the hair. Not sure what it is but searching for the block puzzle isn't turning up much either.

Dick and Jane were around like forever, so it wouldn't surprise me if somewhere Janes hair color got changed. I honestly don't know Dan. I fairly sure it is probably late 40's vintage? Best guess I have. I know I've done some searching also and haven't turned up anything quite like that.

I'm wondering if it's not a Tindeco:

I've seen dark haired Janes before. Seems a safe guess.

No thermos? I watched an episode of "pawn stars", where you would get way more cash if you have the matching thermos clip, and, thermos.
