I guess Lord of the Rings didn't make New Line enough money?

What's that about?..."Our issue with New Line Cinema has only ever been about their refusal to account for financial anomalies that surfaced from a partial audit of The Fellowship of the Ring," the statement reads. ...
I know, what planet did I come from
What can I say, I saw something on some gay crap involving Jackson... and LOTR... a while ago, and that's been the extent of my knowledge on behind the scenes LOTR stuff. It was gay stuff so it didn't interest me at all.
You got my curiousity piqued w/ this one tho DH.
Imho, there sure were a few gay tendency lookin moments during LOTR.

I thought there was quite a bit of subtle gay tendency between Frodo and Sam.Humboldt wrote:What gay stuff are you talking about?
As for Jackson, I dunno, I saw something to that effect on tv, some movie critics. can't recall who, when or what channel. Do I need to make a retraction?

No, lol, I just didn't realize you were talking about the movie itself also.ghettoside wrote:I thought there was quite a bit of subtle gay tendency between Frodo and Sam.

I thought the same thing, it gets explained in the book a good bit better and IMO isn't a sexual thing between them, but in the movie it's kinda hard to tell at times.

dhd, I read about this earlier and have been wondering if either side seems less slanted than the other. Hard to tell.
Either way I'm bummed he won't be working on the Hobbit at this point, as the job he did with the trilogy was just so damn good.
Feelings about religion: I believe in a dogma-free personal Prime Mover.
Interesting that he signed on as producer and not director, and that they'll be splitting the Hobbit up into two movies. Should be an interesting ride...

The first names in the cast of Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" have been announced.
Martin Freeman ("The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," "Love Actually") is set to play Bilbo Baggins, the Hobbit whose adventures and discovery of the One Ring leads the story up to "The Lord of the Rings."
"Despite the various rumors and speculation surround this role, there has only ever been one Bilbo Baggins for us," Jackson said, according to Deadline.com. "There are a few times in your career when you come across an actor who you know was born to play a role, but that was the case as soon as I met Martin. He is intelligent, funny, surprising and brave - exactly like Bilbo and I feel incredibly proud to be able to announce that he is our Hobbit."
The casting was announced by New Line Cinema COO/president Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros COO/president Alan Horn, MGM co-CEO Steve Cooper, and Jackson, according to the report.
Jackson has also cast several significant dwarf characters. Richard Armitage will play Thorin Oakenshield, leader of the Company of Dwarves; Aidan Turner and Rob Kazinsky will play Kili and Fili, members of the Company of Dwarves. Also, Graham McTavish will play Dwalin; John Callen will play Oin; Stephen Hunter will play Bombur; Mark Hadlow will play Dori; and Peter Hambleton will play Gloin.
"The Hobbit" is reportedly set to be shot in two back-to-back installments. The projects will begin shooting in February for release in December 2012 and 2013.
