Post by mets23 »

How can I get fast internet? If I upgrade my router will that help. Right now Im at 54mbps. Also can my modem have anything to do with this? I have roadrunner, but I dont think Im getting all the service speeds provided. When I connect to lan I get 100mbps. Is there a cap on some laptops on speed?

What speed package do you have from RR?
When you plug into a network and your network adapter tells you something like 100 megs, that's just the auto negotiation sped telling you that it connected to the 10/100 meg switch port on the LAN side of your router at 100 megs. That's not related to your internet speed. If you have a gigabit NIC and you plug into a gigabit switch, it will tell you it connected at 1 gig.
