How do I change my email address ?

Post by Rivas »

Hello

I have no idea how can I change my email address, do I have to use my own email server ? I would like to avoid msn or yahoo.

For example my email address is hunter@myISP.net

I would like something like hunter@jungle.com

Any idea ?

TY in advance

You don't need your own server, you can find many many mail hosts out there. The easiest step is find a host that can also register the domain that you want to have for your e-mail address. Often called a "vanity" e-mail account, say you want to have e-mail addresses like Eric@rivas.com
You'd see if Rivas.com was available..and if so, register that domain. Done through a registrar of your choice, such as godaddy.com. They can even host the e-mail for you.

If you use a registrar that is separate from whoever hosts your e-mail, you'd log into your DNS account at your registrar, and have your MX records point to whatever mail server(s) that your web/mail host puts you on.

Rackspace.com is another big one, one of the older ones around, we use them for some basic POP accounts for smaller clients of ours.
