Don't buy gas on May 19th...

Post by Loonatic »

Just got this in my email....its worth a shot!

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT TO THEM" DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

those emails go around every time gas prices spike.

It would probably work if the entire country boycotted on the same say, but they never will so it never will.

Not buying gas on any certain day doesn't do anything, you gotta have it regardless. If you can back off on usage as in everyone backing off on usage all the time then that will help. Recreation usage is usually some that can take a dive vs what you need to get to work, pick up kids, etc.

Even if every single entity refrained from purchasing gas on a certain day, and even if the oil companis take a financial hit as a result, who do you think will end up paying when the oil companies want to make up that loss? They know we are dependant upon gas and they will raise their prices again to recover their losses.

Such boycotts are only effective at products that we are not dependant upon.

Just buy your gas the day before. It's a win, win, win situation. You get your gas, they get their boycott and the gas company gets its money. Everyone wins!

If you want to make a real difference then walk, use mass transit or car pool whenever possible.

Their sales for the week remain stable. One day gets a slump..but the next day or the prior day is waaaay high in sales volume. Gas doesn't have a 24 hour shelf life. Sure they'll wonder why the huge drop in sales one day, but if it's more than made up for by the end of the week..the weekly sales remains the same.

The only negative result...I suffer from waiting in lines longer since people have to spread that one day to another day...say everyone needs to go get gas the day before or two..the lines will be longer.

That is why I used the qualifier "whenever possible".
