as per usual, i am probably just overlooking the obvious, but ive been trying to find the windows deployment service MMC snap-in to add to my bloated console. up till now i have just opened the WDS MMC independantly of the one i use for everything else.

thats the same technet page i used to get wds set up. now just trying to get the dang unattend.xml/answer files working correctly. im just irritated at my inability to find the path to add a wds snap-in to my console. opeining it as its own mmc is easy, its under admin tools like most all the other mmc snap-ins, but through the "add snap-in" menu in my custom console i cannot find it. meh, its a trivial thing. probably serving more to keep me from just moving forward than anything else
thx again, bud. that poke in the eye is a standing offer, btw. just lemme know

not what i was after in terms of how to add the wds mmc to my custom mmc, but it DOES have a better section on the unatteded.xml and answer file. great link, Yardie. very very much appreciated. the technet article relies more on sample codes than explaining it in relation to the questions youd be asked during an instal.

yeah, sure did. was right where one would think it should be, in the main list of standalones. either i was looking for RIS (legacy equivelant of WDS), or after i got frustrated i was checking the list of ones i already had installed (first window after you click "add/remove snap-in) and not clicking "add" on that window.
kinda like not asking yourself if the monitor is plugged in when you dont get POST. i dont seem to have these kind of tard sessions until im at home (thank god). must be the booze.
Maybe I am also missing something, but can this snap-in be loaded from a Windows 7 machine? It would be nice to have a custom mmc on my machine instead of having to rdp to a server.
