It's snowing.. in South Carolina..

Post by Shinobi »

Being originally from New England.. it is funny seeing people react down here...
But some "traditions" seem to have migrated from the big past blizzards up north.. (running to the supermarket, to get milk and bread.. ECT..)

I got a three day weekend.. and my 3ry old daughter is really happy, because she's only seen snow once before we left New England, I don't think she remembers. So this is great! :D

They are doing good , Thanks for asking!

My Wife is recovering very well after the gastric bypass surgery. She got the staples taken out of her stomach where the incisions were made. She has lost 21 pounds in one week! Very awesome.. My brother-in-law had the pus removed from his left lung and the "webbing" that the infection caused, scraped off of his lungs. He is at home now and doing very well.. so good news on both fronts. Thank God.

Yeah I was rather disappointed the snow stayed south this storm.. we have over 2 feet here but I think we could use another 3 feet on top of it :D

I say bring it on, I can drive in it just fine.

We got about 4 inches.. some place 1/2 hour to the west of where I am at, got up to 8 inches of snow. All of the road have frozen ice snow pack on them, because there is not a adequate amount of plows and sand / salt trucks to deal with the roads.. Don't think i'll be going out today... but my daughter loves the snow! LOL :thumb:

Be thankful about the plow truck situation lol, there are enough pot holes up here on the roads now cause of them that your likely to require a re-alignment on your vehicle after winter is over not to mention the rust pits caused by all the salt and chemicals they are dropping. :irate:

I'm thankful FOR the snow plows and salt trucks. If it weren't for them I wouldn't be able to go anywhere. My little Corolla does OK on snow, but can't go up and down mountain roads covered with ice.
PS. my car is 13 years old and has zero rust on it or underneath it. Bring on the salt!

For the most part you have options on what you drive so can't really argue anything besides that and I'm willing to bet you have some sort of corrosion under your car from the salt and chemicals that you may not see even if its not visible on the surface yet.. been provin even with coating of certain paints. How do I know this? Well I've been to the salt flats testing on vehicles and you can bet even under normal operating conditions it happens and at a alarming rate!

Wouldn't hurt my feelings if they stop scraping today... got my 4wheel drives one of which is lifted enough to get through 3-4 feet of snow so bring the snow and scrap the plows!! :thumb:

No. I can only afford one vehicle and it needs to be a gas sipper and inexpensive to maintain, so no 4x4.

My neighbor has a lift in his garage and lets me use it any time I need to work on my car. I go over that puppy very carefully and have found no corrosion. If there is some of that invisible corrosion like you speak of, then I will have to deal with it in the future, but for a 13 year old car it looks great under there. Also, I don't live on a salt flat, so that may help.

:rotfl: yeah i hear ya... no really, the corrosion often times develops inside the frame and in hard to see spots so you can bet even after a year there is some there. As for the salt flat testing area... that was just a reference and a testing location for vehicles and parts.
