Camel Rock

Post by Humboldt »

Spent the afternoon at the beach. Beautiful day right up to when I got 5 miles from the beach, at which point it got so damn foggy I took my shades off and turned on the headlights.

One of my favorite beaches, a little less than 1/2 hour from my house. I got a few shots I really like and the fog kept all the tourists in their cars and on the highway :D

Only saw about 6 people in 2 hours (surfers and one guy with a nice looking motorcycle who stopped to smoke a bowl and drink a beer up at the overlook). On a sunny weekend day it'd've been closer to 40 or 50 people.

The tide pools were awesome:

Small rainbow that actually started and ended right on the beach:

Tide pools again. Lots of big starfish ranging from orange to purple, anemones, and barnacles:

The fog and lighting played hell with my camera (that and my ineptitude):

Great afternoon :thumb:

Some great shots! Love the fog on the beach...brings back memories of when I was stationed out at Pax River off of the Chesapeake Bay...

That looks like an awesome place to live, even better, that looks like an awesome place to grow up in as a kid.

It is an awesome place to live, don't know about growing up here (not that it'd be a bad thing, just that I grew up living 2 hours from the Atlantic and now live 10 minutes from the Pacific).

Those are some of the best shots you've ever taken and some of the best I've seen posted here in this forum.

Here is a tweaked shot of your dog...

Thanks for the positive comments, glad you guys like the shots.

Not quite what I was expecting when I set out yesterday. Instead of sweeping views of the blue Pacific with miles of coastline, I could only see 50 yards and that water was cold and grey :D The fog made for some decent images though and, like I mentioned, it was nice having the beach to myself.

9mm, you get your new lens yet?

No :/ Apparently it's not coming til monday, even though I had it sent 2nd day air, spent an extra three dollars for "rush processing", and ordered it on Wednesday. Not really thrilled with New Egg so far.
