Yep. I have even discussed it numerous times on here in the past. Naturally he was the Governor then, but I did work on his campaign in 2000. Met him several times for a good period of time each time. He is a very good guy as a person. It's just his Presidential skills that after the fact we all realized how bad they were.UOD wrote:Personal experience with the President? In what setting? How long was your interaction?

You were very fortunate. In 8 years I have forgotten or never fully realized your interaction with the President....before he was President.
I don't think any American that wants to be President has it in their heart to be a bad President or to be bad for America. Bush appeals to his base....I'm not part of that and never have been.
He genuinely was/is a good guy which is what made my switch in 2003 even harder on me. Even now although I am happy to see him leaving the Oval Office I still feel conflicted towards the guy. Whenever you meet someone you like in particular you even get more invested in them and to see them not do well is unfortunate to say the least. In my case I did a lot of getting out the vote work for his campaign and in hindsight I regret that because of how his presidency turned out. As naive as it sounds now at the time I truly thought he would be one of the great Presidents this country has seen.UOD wrote:You were very fortunate. Clearly I was to close to the situation to make any rational judgment.

So true. Its great to honor our war veterans but these two guys were also serving our country in my eyes.
Bush WAS all about securing our boarders before his 2nd election....
