Problems with my Printer/Scanner?

Post by Sting »

I just started to have a problem with my printer; maybe someone could help me out?

My printer: “HP PSC 1610 All-In-One Printer-Scanner-Copier”, started to act up today on my XP system. When I try to scan a Picture or Document, I get the following message: “Please wait while Windows Configures Scan”. Then a box opens reading: “The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the ‘Scan’ Disk and click O.K.” Under “Use Source”, there’s a “1” and the browse button to the right. So I’ll close this box and then another box opens reading: “Error 1706 No valid source could be found for the product Scan. The Windows Installer cannot continue”. The funny thing is I can still print out documents on my PC, or insert a document into the scanner, click on copy and it will print out a copy just fine, but when it comes down to scanning: “nothing”; I just get the above message.

If someone could help me out, I’d truly appreciate it?

Thanks for your time,

John

Sounds like your software for your printer in windows maybe corrupted. Try unstalling . Then reinstalling it. This may solve your problem.
GoodLuck :)

To get it right make sure you uninstall everything HP related. Use a good Registry cleaner, reboot and reinstall.

Thanks guys for the help. I figured it had something to do with the software, and a clean re-install was in the making. Using Windows 98 for years and changing over to XP just a few months ago, I really don’t know the system like I had with 98.

Thanks again for the help.
