http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/ ... ryHeadlineFederal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress Monday a fresh round of government stimulus is a good idea because there's a risk the country's economic weakness could last for some time.
Bernanke's remarks before the House Budget Committee marked his first endorsement of another round of energizing stimulus, something that Democrats on Capitol Hill have been pushing. The Bush administration, however, has been cool to the notion.
Another Stimulus Package?
Another Stimulus Package?
Hell yeah! I could use the extra cash for Xmas

What scams they've got going...YARDofSTUF wrote:Of course everyone wants money, but our government isnt in a position to just give some away.
First, banks earn interest on money that does not, has never, or will ever exist, and then the government gives us pittances of our own money back and people celebrate it as if we're vicariously sticking it to The Man.
Not only does it defy logic, it ****s it right up the ass.

Well then using that logic I guess we should just give everyone 100 million dollars.Leatherneck wrote:They waste more in 1 day than the total payout so why get worked up about it. Awesome, I really want to buy another AR15 before Obama gets in office! They have already gone up in price around here by 200 bucks. Dont' want to know what will happen in November if he gets elected.
That and some more 'evil' 30 round magazines would really make my holidays!

Is Obama coming for your guns?
Who was the previous President that either took your guns away or gave you greater access to firearms?

The most recent stimulus package didn't require a payback so why would this one do that?Unholy wrote:So are they going to take it from the 2009 tax returns now?
http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,, ... 03,00.htmlAccording to the IRS the money is not taxable and will not reduce what you may be owed in a tax refund for 2008 (filed in 2009). In fact it’s possible that you get more back next year, if you didn’t already get the maximum, based on next year’s return. See the amount was based on your 2007 return so if you didn’t qualify for the full amount you may still qualify for the difference based on your 2008 return. Don’t worry if you received the full amount already. No matter what your 2008 return says you won’t have to pay anything back.

I don't get it. The first stimulus package had little to no measurable effect on the economy and retail spending still slumped, yet they want to try it again?
Are they gonna give us more money this time? How about retail coupon books.. or maybe free theme park tickets or something?
Seriously, if they want to encourage people to increase discretionary spending, they need to provide a more guided incentive instead of just giving a few hundred bucks to people who are behind on their bills and/or struggling to adjust to increased costs of living.
Don't forget, us taxpayers already have a bailout to pay for.. Somebody has to pay for these tax credits and stimulus packages as well.. At the end of the day, this isn't going to be money in anyone's pocket. It's nothing more than a smoke 'n mirrors attempt at regaining consumer confidence in a slumping economy. It will fail just as miserably as the first stimulus package did in the grand scheme of things.

To me it looks like a good idea.. I spent most of my last check but saved the rest cause I was worried about what was going on like the rest of America.... pump more into it this time around for Xmas and you will have some spending. Right now every company is doing their best to get you to spend YOUR money at their stores. I'm getting tons of magazines now vs that I've used to from places I've purchased for. Ya know what, this year seems to be the first year I've seen the Sears Wishbook for the first time in many years...that means they are getting desperate for sales like everyone else is. Stimulate the economy during this time of the year and people will spend.

Right, you aren't, because you have nothing to stand on, you have no point to make and you probably need to edit your post and apologize to the rest of the forum for making such a gross miscalculation in judgment.
You guys need to stop posting as if your opinions were facts...they are FAR from being facts and to be quite honest, are very misinformed opinions.
But I'll be sure to log in your IP so I can forward it to Obama and his ATF jackboots. Can't have you white folks running amok round these parts with yer gunz and beerz.

Again, a gross misconception.
I don't want to pay more taxes...I want my tax dollars being spent WISELY!!!!
Going to war in Iraq with my tax dollars did what for America and it's economy?

"Grandpa? Why did you guys spend all that money years ago? Couldn't you have at least elected real leadership who realized that rampant government spending would also be spending "my" money? What went wrong with your generation anyway? No collage, barely enough money to fund a basic education, the countries infactructure is falling down around our ears and without the handouts of China, Mexico and Canada, we'd be a third world country. *sniff*"

So you think the Keynesian theory is the best way to handle the economy. Which unfortunatley is what we are trying to do now.
Or do you just prefer plain ol' communism ?

I am white. We are not a minority.
Doesn't matter because I know that while SENATOR Obama has been in office, you have done ZERO, ZILCH, SQUAT, when it comes to whining about your guns and ammo.
So now that the guy may become President, all of a sudden you are in an uproar??????????????????????????????? Nevermind that he's already a SENATOR.

BTW....why would you need MORE guns and ammo once Obama gets in office? Are you planning a violent overthrow of our newly elected administration? That would make you a domestic terrorist.
Maybe the ATF does need to be informed of your intentions.
To continue the devolvement since it's been brought up...
I understand the desire to keep and bear arms for self-defense and in case our government turns on us completely, but I'm hearing SO many unblinking right-wingers I know echo the same gun-related macho bluster about Obama.
"If he tries to get my guns, he'll get the ammo first." That kind of thing.
Should Obama start grabbing up guns -- and he wouldn't mandate it, of course, more along the lines of Congressional acquiescence to international law (N.A.U.) or somesuch nonsense -- most of these iron daisies would wilt the moment the first ATF agent came within 500 yards of their suburbanite perimeters.
I don't think I've ever heard of an instance where someone killed another human being and said, "Wow, it was JUST LIKE I'd imagined. I feel awesome about it!" Same goes for all these wink-wink, nudge-nudge Nugentians. There is practical application and understanding of the Second Amendment, and then there's Tackleberry.

This isn't why we want to bear arms...Burke wrote:

I really don't know what to say but sorry!!! I'll tell you SORRY for our Government for making you so hateful on it. Move to Canada if you don't like it so much and let the rest of us enjoy it as it is.
What is it with this move to Canada thing? LOL
Last I looked, it's a government for and by the people. We all get a say to some respects and a founding principle of this particular government is the right to complain about it without having to worry about spending time in jail or getting executed.
No need to move to Canada or anywhere else. We get to work for change by writing our congressmen and by voting and guess what? Sometimes it works and it looks like that's exactly what's going to happen come November.
