Partitioning Software

Post by Addict »

Any recommendations? I've used PartitionMagic in the past, but I don't want to shell out $70 (esp since its a Symantec product). I doubt I'll have much use for this once I'm done.

I need to resize the system partition on a drive. It has 2 total partitions both of which are NTFS.

Its doesn't say anything about resizing partitions though? Or did I miss that?

I still like and use Acronis a lot...no more Ghost or PM for me (due to my personal boycott of Symantec products).

Assuming you're not using Vista..which allows native resizing right from disk manglement.

Yeah I'm boycotting Symantec as well. They seem to mangle every company they consume. And add $ to the price with no features added. :irate:

This machine isn't Vista so no builtin manglement.

FWIW, I ended up using GParted. I'm not sure why I didn't think of this tool to start with. Its free and allows you to resize and move just about any type of filesystem.

http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

Not as "pretty" as the paid tools, but not as pricey either. Easy to use as well.
