Bacteria found in the Antartic ice 120,000 years old.
Ice found on Mars.
Ancient comets are composed of ice.
Keywords here are "ice".
Is it possible that the simplest forms of life are found interspersed throughout the Universe in ice?

The bacteria held in that old ice (be it here on earth or on another planet) will be the cause of man being extinguished. Pandora's box.
Sheep will be fine though....

That thought crossed my mind. (not about the sheep being safe. After all sheep aren't gods.) But, I got to thinking...do you realize the devestation that could occur if some of the worlds most deadly viruses were released from the gov. labs? I think we got a few right around Virginia laboratories.
And we've always been concerned with contamination from astronauts. So, at least we are aware of the possible trouble. In fact, in today's environment, it might be the ancient bacteria that wouldn't thrive.

That's cool but it really does not explain much about the origin of life.
