a retraction sort of...

Post by ghettoside »

I posted recently about my rent woes, and that I have to move by June 1 regardless- since my roommate's g/f is supposedly moving back in w/ their daughter. I've gotten some conflicting info on that now, not sure yet wtf is going on.

I also posted last nov when my roommate/bud of 15+ years left for mexico (for the 4th time in the 5 months I lived w/ him) and left w/o paying rent for 2 months and I had about a week to move.... among other things.

anyway, didn't see that bud for a few months, then when we did meet up, enough time had gone by. We still have our friendship. Everything was as it should be.

So anyway, I found out last night that my bud paid my roommate $200 towards my rent- last week.

This was a real surprise to me, especially since my bud just came back from mexico yet again, and he paid that $200 out of his first check since coming back.

So that's the retraction more or less... cuz of what I said last nov.

Would've been nice if my roommate would've said something about the $200 sooner. :wth:

I intended to pay off my balance to my roommate fri night, I was rehashing that when I was told about the $200.

Then my bud told me later on when we talked, that he thought I didn't have to move cuz he paid that $200.

I had a snag too, the room I planned to rent has been rented out, just learned that last night too, so I'm really gonna have fun next weekend iffen I have to move.

Most likely I'll move to one of the better transient hotels along the Lakefront if nothing else. I know of one that has wifi included.

Fifteen years is a very long period of invested time to lose with someone. I am pleased your differences appear to have been resolved. :)

Best of luck with the new move...sorry to hear of the room you were looking at was already gone however...ouch! I would be a total basket case if I had to move as much as you do.

Gonna have to paste some velcro on your feet and clip your wings! I can just hear your wheels turning on a photochop for that statement! ;)

"If you loan a friend $20 and you never see that friend again, it was probably worth it."

Not sure where that quote came from.

people need to vent. sometimes the best advice is from a 3rd party who has nothing to gain or lose by giving said advice.

Here's some advice ghettoside change your nickname. Sometime people tend to project themselves into their situations. Don't focus on the crappyness that lies ahead.

this is the last nice thing I do today.

yups, 15 years is a long time in a friendship, and I'm not apt to toss it away lightly.

When the chit went down w/ my bud in nov, that really was disheartening to me. To learn that he paid $200 of my rent, and didn't even tell me... I was shocked and then happy. Glad that friendship wasn't broken, which can easily happen when 2 friends share an apt.

I would too if I had a house, lol.

I'm happy tho at the way things are working out. I've got 2 new buds who don't tire of talking about computers, and they are live, not net. No offense to all my buds here at SG.

wow.. hostile much? As I said, I've always been cool with you, and I was genuinely interested. I had wanted YOUR answer, not other peoples, but you know what? Nevermind :)

As for why do I reply? I replied in this case cos my curiosity got the better of me, that's all.

YoS, I've tried reducing the verbage in my posts lately, and when I do, then I keep finding that I didn't say enough...

Maybe Philip can add a cliffnotes feature to the boards. :p

Me hostile to you? you've gotta be bullshittin' me.

9mm, whatever my reply was, it wasn't hostile, or at least not meant that way.

as to why... well the full restoration of a 15+ year friendship is something important to me, and I said a bit of negative things about my bud last nov in threads here. I felt a guilty conscience, needed to rectify that- irregardless of whether or not my bud belongs to SG or will never even see what I posted.

I also thought what I posted was over all good news, and such is a rarity for me. So I posted.

I prolly should've bumped the nov thread.

If you've ever noticed, my SG title says "SG Family"... meaning folks around here are family to me.

I've been cool w/ you too. I hate to see you turn your back, but by all means suit yourself if my posts are bothersome to you. It's not gonna change the way I post, nor how I post in your threads.

I also found out that don't have to move, so that means I'll have comcast back on in 3 weeks, and then I can available to spam the boards as usual.

:)
