Post by Adam5 »

I have a EMachines T5062 :crash: and want to upgrade to 2GB of RAM. I have no idea what type of RAM my computer uses. Will this work on my computer?

To be on the safe side sense you do not know go to www.Crucial.com or www.kingston.com. Either place you can look up the type memory your computer takes.

thanks for the replies, but im even more confused now :wth: Newegg gave me a result that had DDR2 and SDRAM, aren't they both types of RAM? Can i get RAM that is just DDR2, or does it HAVE to be SDRAM and DDR2?

In case you haven't noticed, i hate RAM and their confusing types and names

According to the manufacturers site, you can upgrade to 2 GB... (Click on the "+" by "specifications"...)
1024MB DDR2 dual-channel memory
(2 × 512MB), 667MHz, (PC2-5300)
Expandable to 2GB
2 DDR2 slots (Total) | 0 DDR2 slot (Available)

What this means is that your box came with 2 sticks of 512 MB, 667 MHz, PC2-5300 and what you will need to do to upgrade is to remove those 2 sticks, as you only have 2 slots and replace them with 2 sticks of 1 GB each, DDR2 667, PC2 5300...

If this is what you want to do, then these would be your choices...

The link that you put in your first post of this thread is for:
"OCZ SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory "
So it would have a faster speed than your box can use. Will it work in your box? Perhaps, ...depending on how picky that your box is for RAM. It would not run at those speeds though...

What you are looking for is "PC2 5300" or "DDR2 667" as they both are the same thing. I hope that this clears things up for you...

Edit* After looking through the CompUSA site, I see why you are confused as they are not listing their RAM correctly... Honestly, I wouldn't buy from them anyway and thought that they went out of business back in February....
