Possable upgrade...AMD or INTEL?

Post by KINGoFOOLS »

Looking to upgrade my MB proc and ram. How much faster is the intel stuff compared to the AMD? Can a X2 6400+ ($210) hang with a Q6600? ($280)
Whats a good ASUS MB?

thanks

I'm starting to look a bit....as plan on something by end of year. So far.....fairly settled on a P35 chipset based board (basically the replacement for the 965 chipset). One of the Asus P5K variants. Abits IP35 is peeking me too.

You running Veeeesta? If so, I'd go to 4 gigers.

I'd go to 4 gigs anyways..even with XP. RAM is cheap enough these days.

Yah, I going to go with 4 gig, that corsair is only $96 with a $40 rebate for 2 gigs... Yes running vista unfortunately, I came so close to putting Xp back on. They have been coming out with updates left and right which helped with alot of the issues I was having. I'll take a look at that P5k board.

P5K-e is the best bang for the buck. It's a deluxe basically. Also has wifi if you'd like that.

damn...

I've been SO tempted myself. I just can't justify it, considering that I'm satisfied with my x2 3800 setup.

Oh well.

Based on my research (about a month ago), the intel setup does give you more for the buck. Although, it really depends on how much you value that buck.
