L2 Cache enabled

Post by Scoot »

Please forgive my ignorance, but I am learning!! My 500mz AMD K6-2 with 256 RAM is testing below 20% at PC-Pitstop. They recommend enabling L2 cache. I can find no options in my Phoenix Bios 4.06 (BIOS REVISION 1.07 10/07/99) It has a SIS 530 chipset and ASUS motherboard. HP Pavillion 6640C. My internet connection rocks with ATT@home cable-DSL Reports speed test-

Your download speed : 2746993 bps, or 2746 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 335.3 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 119402 bps, or 119 kbps.
Your connection rocks .. above the 1mbit barrier!

But my machine is so slow!!

Here is a snipet of my test on an old AMD box I built. Not all that good but I can live with.

According to the data reported by the system BIOS, there are 4 available memory slots on the system board. That means you can add memory simply by inserting new memory modules into the empty slots. On this system, memory modules can be up to 256MB, so you could add up to 1024MB of RAM without removing the existing memory modules.

Scoot, Here is the site for the .pdf file for your motherboard: ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/ASUS/mb/sock7/sis530/p5s-vm/p5svm-103.pdf

In your bios make sure your "External" and "Internal" cache are enabled.

This is only my opinion, so don't get your panties in a ruffle!
