Xbox 360 wireless adaptor help

Post by SRF01 »

I bought the wireless adapter for the 360 but I can't get it to pass the IP test. It sees and connects to the wireless network and the WEP key is correct. It just keeps failing the IP test.

I've tried setting the router to static IP's eg.
IP: 192.168.1.10
Sub: 255.255.255.0
Gate: 192.168.1.1
DNS 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3

But the IP test fails.

So I tried setting the router to DHCP and the 360 to Automatic but when it looks for a IP it comes back with
269.254.116.18
255.255.0.0

This isn't even on the same sub net lol. and it always grabs that exact IP.

Now if i connect the router to the ethernet port it will get a correct IP automatically and it works fine. But the TV is in another room so this isn't going to work.

All PC's work just fine with DHCP and static ip's so the WEP key is not the issue.
The router is a netgear WRT54GS with the latest firmware. I also lowered the MTU to 1265.

Any ideas? I can't wait to play halo online...
