Nothing seems to be working, I have no idea what kaspersky changed but just as soon as i installed it my connection went down hill. I get huge ping spikes. I do not have a router, And for some reason i cannot system restore. So please help

Great product actually...

was there a prior antivirus on the machine...and/or a prior software firewall?

i unistalled kaspersky, And nothing. I had zone alarm and avg on my system. Both unistalled as well. So i really have no idea what it changed what settings it messed up. But i can't get on any games without having huge ping spikes, or being disconnected. This never happen before kaspersky so it is the culprit. Also i had a friend come over play the same game on my connection and it was perfect. So if anyone can please help it would be great.

Ahh..ZoneAlarm....I've seen that screw up so many computers..even after uninstalling..it leaves so much junk behind. There was some special zonealarm "cleanup" utility out there which further cleaned up the mess it left...I can't find it at the moment..many mnosteele remembers where it is and can toss up a link...he's our resident Kaspersky expert.

Yes, it's a conflict with ZA and Kaspersky, older versions did not work together. Your best option is to uninstall both then use Autoruns and make sure there are no left over drivers or services from either ZA or KAV, if so delete them. Then use a good registry cleaner such as jv16 powertools to clean up any left overs, you can also try following the directions here for removing ZA. Once you have done these things please post a HijackThis log. Then reinstall KAV only. As YeOld stated, ZA is terrible and I have seen it cause more problems that it's worth.

It's one of the top 2 antivirus products out there IMO...I wouldn't give up on it. The issue is most likely due to zone alarm, it creates problems with many other security applications also, not just KAV. Believe me...I do this for a living, I've seen it many times. mnosteele does this for a living also, and you heard his opinion.

You have AOHELL installed? That alone will ruin your connection. Did you find any drivers left over with ZA using autoruns? How is your connection right now with neither installed?

OK, try using the Winsock Fix.

In regards to AOL, it's drivers are loading and affecting your connection.

avg, ecetra. I think this thread explains whats happening to me. Maybe kaspersky shut down my ports. http://forum.kaspersky.com/lofiversion/ ... 42668.html

that seems to explain it. Now i get huge pings and can't connect to thing wise like freestyle basketball. My little brother loves the game it gets him to stop crying.

so if you could help i really can't reformat at the very moment.

for the amount of trouble your going through you could have reinstalled and been playing fine once again within a few hours. Sounds like all kinds of things are hosed.... just reinstall and be over the problem for good. Stay away from Zonealarm and anything to do with AOL!
