For many, a computer is a black box appliance, they rely on the manufacturer to provide them with a properly functioning product. Apple has done well with making such boxes.
I am a Mac user, no need to preach. But let's be honest; up until a short while ago, Macs DID come preloaded with "test drive" software like Microsoft Office and iWork.

Fair enough. My thoughts were tied into the respective operating systems working properly with the offered computers. Although Apple did package some software, I do not believe it impacted performance like with Dell and its ilk (Compounded with substanadard base setups to attract buyers).
