Usually you hear about wrestlers dying from drug use, etc.

wow.... never saw that coming but this will really cause Vince issues with getting ratings up in the near future since Chris was just traded to a different brand. Alot of the better ratings brings are just not doing enough such as TheRock who is getting divorced, StoneCold who just finished a movie, HHH who is out still on that leg injury.

This is still truly sad to see him go.

I got the feeling that this is going to blow up into something major. I looked around a bit and found this,
Not At WWE Vengeance Pay-Per-View
Date Added: June 24, 2007
Story By: Richard Gray
Chris Benoit was unable to work tonight's Vengeance pay-per-view. The Canadian Crippler was replaced by Johnny Nitro, who ended up winning the ECW World Heavyweight Championship.

Tazz briefly mentioned that Benoit was unable to make it due to "personal reasons." As we reported earlier here at Rajah.com today, Benoit had to fly home over the weekend to deal with a family emergency.

We should have a full update on Chris Benoit after the event is over.

The only news coming from Georgia Police, is that the 'family was not shot to death'. I know that statement sounds cold. But it does rule out one speculation that is running rampant surrounding their deaths. Once an update is available, we will post it here on the website and hotline

well i'm curious if Vince is going to make a showing? If he does he will destroy the whole story line behind his car explosion..if he doesn't it might be viewed as not caring.. meh

Wow, catching up on Raw on the DVR, they're really broken up about it and they're not acting either, those guys form some serious bonds behind the scenes. Sucks, Benoit was one tough mofo and I always laughed at his chipped tooth and Canadian accent lol!!

RIP!

abc news

Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department told ABC News that Benoit had missed several appointments over the weekend, leading concerned parties to ask police to do a "welfare check."

When sheriffs arrived at the Benoit home, they found the wrestler, his wife, and his son dead.

There was no sign of gunshot wounds or stabbing, according to Pope. But they are not ruling out other causes, such as poisoning, suffocation, or strangulation. Although Pope noted he was not "confirming" any of these causes, just not ruling them out at this time.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. However, it could be as long as weeks before there is a result.

Yes, the storylines and outcomes are fake(except in the rare case of serious injury where the performer can't continue), but the bumps these folks take are real and painful.

That being said, Benoit was one of the few who could actually string together enough wrestling moves to make it convincing.

As a fan of his I'm going to miss him. I truely hope this wasn't a murder/suicide as first reported. That would make a sad situation much worse. :(

Pro wrestler Chris Benoit canceled a pay-per-view appearance at the "Vengeance" event in Houston because of "personal reasons" a day before he, his wife and their 7-year-old son were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

Details of the deaths "are going to prove a little bizarre" when released to the public, Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Autopsies were scheduled Tuesday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in DeKalb County.

Authorities were investigating the deaths at a secluded Fayette County home as a murder-suicide and were not seeking any suspects.

Investigators believe Benoit, (pronounced ben-WAH) killed his wife and son over the weekend and then himself sometime Monday. The bodies were found Monday afternoon in three different rooms of the house on Green Meadow Lane, in a subdivision off a gravel road about two miles from the Whitewater Country Club.

Ballard told The Associated Press a gun was not used in any of the deaths. But he declined to say how the three died.

"We're pretty sure we know, but we want to confirm it with the crime lab," Ballard said early Tuesday.

Fayette County Coroner C.J. Mowell did not return phone calls. The answering service for his funeral home said he was out of town.

World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Web site that it asked authorities to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who received "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning."

Sheriff's Lt. Tommy Pope told WSB-TV that the three were found about 2:30 p.m., but he wouldn't release other details.

Stamford, Conn.-based WWE also said on its Web site it had been asked by authorities not to release further information on the deaths of Benoit, 40; his wife, Nancy, 43; and son, Daniel.

Benoit was born in Montreal. He was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career. He was known by several names including "The Canadian Crippler."

"WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy," the company said in a statement on its Web site.

Benoit had maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling.

The WWE canceled its live "Monday Night RAW" card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.

Benoit's wife managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, "Woman," The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

They met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing story line on World Championship Wrestling, the newspaper said.

Benoit has two other children from a prior relationship.

Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press Tuesday.

The official spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths of Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son who were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.
