Issues regarding connecting 2 or more networks

Hi guys, ive been given a task to do a presentation for work, i work for a holiday company who have 3 different villages.
The future plans are to basically link all 3 village holidays together, because this would allow the 3 sites to share data.

What i want to know is what are the issues involved in connecting 2 or more networks together, including

1. Packet Routing
2. Security Implications
3. Compatibility.

Ur help would be reli appreciated as i dont want to make a fool out of myself in this meeting.

You mean they have offices in three different locations? Such as across town? Or across state? Or in different countries?

Without knowing their further needs...sounds like you'd want to look into building three separate networks..and tying them together with routers that support "router to router VPN tunnels".

But need more info...like "what do you need to share?" What the software supports, what the goals are, how many users, remote access, etc etc.

I don't see this as necessarily "wireless".

The furthest office from the main server is 400 Meters, in terms of what is going to be shared it will just be simple data, and also software, so the software must be centralised, there are 44 computers all together within this network, so far its a star topology, ive designed this and ive used cat6 between the pc's, printers to the switch, the switches are connected to a switch that is in the centre of the network, there are 4 departments, administration, purchasing, accounts and management, and the warehouse is 400meters away, each department is connected to the main switch in the centre with fibre optic, media converters have been put in place from the switch to the warehouse.

I have to discuss the issues involved in connecting 2 or more networks together, including

1. Packet Routing
2. Security Implications
3. Compatibility.

The 3 things stated above must be explained

if you are using a server why not set up a application server and make a drive or partion) a "share drive"... alternately, you can setup file and print sharing.

packet routing - not to be concerned unless you are subnet intentionally running sevetal diff (typically large) networks.

security - security is only as a good as the (knowledge of the) sysadmin (vs the hacker ).

capatibility - no prob - tcpip. and likely you are using MS a/o Macs.
