VPN for small business

Post by rich8ch »

Hi, I bought the four port netgear ProSafeVPN router for a small network at my office. Anyway, I want to set up a VPN between a laptop (remote client) and the network (host). We have a static IP, and have the client/host software.

We tried to get a remote log in going and still cant get in. Did we need a second endpoint router, or does the client serve as the endpoint when it logs in? I am curious and need to move on this.

Any input would be extremely helpful. Thank you- Rich

Can you check the logs on the router..see if any errors relating to the laptop trying to VPN in remotely?

Any errors on the client side?

Latest firmware on the router, latest version of VPN software on the laptop?

Also are you behind a server that is managing a Domain for your network? And are you just using windows remote desktop or like PC Anywhere from Symantec ?
