High ping even thought good connection

Post by agustintorre »

Hello, I have tweaked my INTERNET connection to best improve my ping according to trogers settings, but trogers I'm still wondering if you can help me tweak even more to help in prove my ping I usually have 80-200 ping in most servers I play in Americas Army.
Heres a couple pic of my game:

My name is the gold name also heres my TCP/IP Optimizer settings:
TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44) <-- current value

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 2570 kbps (321 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 1028 kbps (128 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 53 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

Also heres a nirto test:
WEB100 Enabled Statistics:

checking for firewalls . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Done

Java data: Vendor = Sun Microsystems Inc., Version = 1.5.0_06

------ Web100 Detailed Analysis ------
Cable modem/DSL/T1 link found.
Link set to Full Duplex mode
No network congestion discovered.
Good network cable(s) found
Normal duplex operation found.

Web100 reports the Round trip time = 106.26 msec; the Packet size = 1460 Bytes; and
No packet loss was observed.
C2S throughput test: Packet queuing detected: 0.31%
S2C throughput test: Packet queuing detected: 1.28%
This connection is receiver limited 95.52% of the time.
This connection is network limited 4.39% of the time.

Web100 reports TCP negotiated the optional Performance Settings to:
RFC 2018 Selective Acknowledgment: ON
RFC 896 Nagle Algorithm: ON
RFC 3168 Explicit Congestion Notification: OFF
RFC 1323 Time Stamping: OFF
RFC 1323 Window Scaling: OFF

Server 'nitro.ucsc.edu' is not behind a firewall. [Connection to the ephemeral port was successful]
Client is probably behind a firewall. [Connection to the ephemeral port failed]

Server IP addresses are preserved End-to-End
Client IP addresses are preserved End-to-End

TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window - 65280
MTU Discovery - Yes
Black Hole Detect - No
Selective Acks - Yes
Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options:
Windows Scaling - uncheck
Timestamps - uncheck

Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
LocalPriority - 1
Host Priority - 1
DNSPriority - 1
NetbtPriority - 1
Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 160
MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
NetFailureCacheTime - 0
NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect

Thanks trogers it helped alot my ping has lowerd on every server (I pinged all of them with awsome results)
So does the tweak lower my sent packets??
Thanks!!

TCP options string = 0204055001010402

MTU = 1400
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.

MSS = 1360
MSS is not optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU value.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 65535

Note: TCP 1323 Options need to be enabled for RWIN over 2^16 (65535). Windows 9x might also need the MS Vtcp386 fix.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
522240 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 8)
261120 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 4)
130560 (MSS x 48 * scale factor of 2)
65280 (MSS x 48)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 2621 kbps (328 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 1049 kbps (131 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

Yes. all data packets will be lowered to 1400 with MSS at 1360. This will lower your download speed by a couple of percent.

but i was going to actually ask u the same thing he did troggers i play americas army as well and have the same problem with my ping its always between 100 and 200 sometimes higher i have dsl with qwest and i have the tweaking tool but i dont think its set right maybe there is something u can do to help me

i did a speed test and this is what its told me
1182 kbps download
57 kbps upload
Warning: ISP upload compression was detected. Your upload speeds may be inaccurate.

i have no clue what any of that means lol all i know is that my ping is to high and i am hoping u can bring it down

Start a new thread and tell us which country you are in. What speed did you pay to get and post your TCP Analyzer report.

Similar problem

Post by Tragic76 »

Hey I apologize if this post is redundant but I dont see anyone here with the same network statistics as myself.

I too play America's Army and also World of Warcraft and on both games I consistently have the HIGHEST ping compared to anyone else. when I join a server I tend to almost always be around 200ms latency if not more. When everyone else is sitting pretty at 17-75 ms. I ran TCP Optimizer and ran the optimal settings and rebooted and had the same results. Is there anything I might not be accounting for? I also run Mcaffee antivirus all the time but I normally run the End it All program before playing games to minimize cpu usage.

here is my stats,

once again Im sorry if this has been posted before but I couldnt find anyone with the similar numbers I had.
