Dx8 question

Post by DisturbingThePriest »

I currently have DX7a installed. I have been reading the forums and seen alot of negative comments about dx8.

My question is; If I install dx8 will I be able to uninstall it if I don't like it?

The people that have dx8 installed is there an increase in performance?

What are the advantages of dx8.a?

TIA
Chris

DX8.0 DX8.0a are great, I think the bits you have seen regarding DX8 questions of is it faster or not are regarding DX8.1. My frame rate dropped minimally but image quality seemed better. all in all, go to 8.1 its worth it

I think that may be almost unattainable, being I have a VooDoo5 5500.

DX8 for the card? Explain please. I was under the impression that the DX8 install took care of everything.

In order for a video card to take advantage of the features that DX8 offers, the card Manufacturer has to make drivers that are optimized for DX8. Not all drivers are DX8 optimized, thank God that mines are :)

Thanks Prey, I don't care what other folks say, you are quite a nice person :D

I'd think the V12 detonator drivers would have DX8 support. I was at a loss where to find DX8 card install. I misread the post, that combined with my general lack of intelligence had me a bit boggled.

Is it working right with directx8a. If so I would not worry. When I Installed it it updated my drivers for me. I am useing a off brand card. It works great with it. If you are running 98,98se, 2000 I have a program that will uninstall it. But I have not found one yet for Me. GoodLuck! :)

Storm90 could you please post the name of that program? dx8.a has taken the left turn on me. I am getting some sort of tearing and meshing with my browsers and desktop. Any window I have running, I close it, the image will stay displayed for numerous minutes. I really don't think that's a good effect ;)

TIA
