Need help please

Post by soly »

I have been trying to update my modem firmware/driver but cant seem to find a driver for it. If anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it. Im using a SB5120 modem (ethernet). Also, by running the driver or firmware automatically update the modem or is it complicated. Im also interested in knowing if my modem can even handle the 8 megs that im subscribed for. thanks.

Don't seem to be any problem indicated in the log.

See this link for possible firmware: http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers ... ts/sb5120/

the level at -6 is a little low.. should be +-5 from 0 but it shouldn't make that much difference. As to adjust it you need to check your connections at the house for say condensation build up on the coax end and make sure its tight.. then last resort to call ISP have them send someone out to look at it and adjust.

well i keep getting delayed responses when playing americas army and im pretty sure its not fps lag so i figured i would give this a shot. as for checking my cable, that would be kinda hard becuase it ties in from the street to the basement of my house (opposite side of the house from my room. from there i believe it goes up 2 floors and splits at the tv. then to my modem. basically there is alot of line to check. btw is there a certain cable splitter i should use to reduce lag??

take the splitter out if you can just to test it.. The splitter is obviously causing a drop in power level. I'm sure once you remove the splitter you will perform better. Just run another new drop from the box that comes off the street to the house just up to your modem only and leave the other one going to the TV as is.

As for updating stuff on the modem most of it if not all is done from the ISP they can update it from their end. but here is the site directly to it from Motorola which only have USB drivers linked which you prob don't need.

I have the same modem and its more than able to handle 8megs.. mine is pulling in over 25megs at times so yeah its ok and will do the job :thumb:

but I highly recommend getting off that splitter and running you a dedicated line to your modem.

if your using a plain ole splitter it will drop the levels.. but I highly suggest getting some new RG6 cable from say radio shack and taking the time to just run some new cable from the box to your modem.
