I meant the 384bit VS 320bit interface. Wouldnt that allow more throughput?

Also the GTX has 128 stream processors and the GTS has 96.

I would assume so....I guess I'm trying to determine the best bang for the buck....

Those won't be your only choice
According to VRZONE NVIDIA will release cheaper GeForce 8800 cards next month to increase pressure on current ATi X1950 lineup targeting at X1950XT 256MB mainly. The new cards will based on the same 8800GTS GPU (96 unified, 24 texture processors and 20 ROPs). It has the same core and memory clock speeds but half the memory size of the current 8800GTS cards.

The card will still be known as GeForce 8800GTS but comes with 320MB GDDR3 memorie in 10 x 8M*32 array so the memory bus width remains unchanged at 320bit. The card length is the same as the current 8800GTS card at 9 inches and it is still a dual slot. The performance is close to the current 8800GTS 640M but it is US$100 cheaper.

Does a price tag of US$299 sounds good to you? :)
That came from guru... but if I had to choose I'd go with a GTX as its a powerhouse card!!! And make sure you grab one that is Overclocked like from BFG since they are selling those now.

A friend of mine got an 8800GTX, not sure whats wrong but the system boots, but if he goes to play a game, watcha video ro view an intense myspace page the whole system reboots.

He called up support and looks like they're gonna send him a new card, for a single card it requires 30 Amps? Does that mean 60A for SLI?

I haven't seen my GTX pull very much at all.. SLI shouldn't pull no more on Peak than 520watts and 700 Watt or better PSU with a 40 AMPs 12 Volts rail should do the trick for most modern systems.

I'm curious too Izzo on what the performance will set you at with those two in SLI cause from what I've read on reviews a single GTS against a GTX loses 30% horse power.. when I think your best investment would have been with a single GTX vs the GTS giving you just as much but costing you less. I went over the reviews for 2 weeks everywhere I could read and I just couldn't justify going with a GTS over the GTX at the cost differences they were at and the performance levels.
Here check this:
http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/391/18/

Note the score differences just on these two benches between those two cards and others from the 7900GS up to the 8800GTX's... mind blowing! But i'm sure you will love the results either way as your now joined in on the ranks of the DX10 and in line with the rest of us waiting on it and Vista! :thumb:

Ya, might very well be ....we'll see what happens...

Symptoms of not enough juice.

bad 3D performance
crashing games
spontaneous resetting PC
freezes during gameplay
PSU overload can cause it to break down
