Hi CableDude
Best to have a Doctor check it out imho. Most often now they try to save the Tonsils, when i was a kid, out they came.

Tonsillitis

When i was a little boy they removed mine on the Dining Room Table. I kid you not.
Back then they used Chloroform that they poured onto a strainer like contraption with gauze of some kind in it. It put you to sleep alright and a headache came after.
When i awoke the Doctor showed me my Tonsils.
Doctors made house calls then.

Had chronic tonsillitis when I was growing up....frequent strep throat too. Tonsils got so scarred up...they harbored infections easily...hence a lot of chronic ones.CableDude wrote:Anyone ever have it? I think I do or have mono. It's making me![]()

Had mono the summer I graduated high school...got really bad.
Had my tonsils removed early in college....since they were so torn up, removing them was a preventitive move. I woke up during the operation...hands and knives in my mouth. Grabbed someones neck before they put me out again. I'll tell ya...the following few days after the operating was the most discomfort I've experienced in my life. Way way worse than having my wisdom teeth removed.

Slightly off topic, but you just reminded me of my eye sugery, I was awake while they went in to repair a broken eye orbit.YeOldeStonecat wrote:Had chronic tonsillitis when I was growing up....frequent strep throat too. I went in to the Dr. a few years back with what I thought was strept throat..I had had a couple of recent rounds with that. He says no...you have tonsillitis this time. Huh? I had my tonsils removed when I was six years old!! How do I remember? It was xmas eve when I was allowed to go home, and my parents said I could open all my presents right then!. All I wanted was ice cream!!
However, it seems that when my tonsils were removed, they apparantly missed a little tiny piece of one...which can partially grow back...and yups...you can get tonsillitis all over again! It was only a one time shot however...at least so far...and I would not have my tonsils back for anything! I was ALWAYS sick when I had them. A bit of discomfort a few days after yes...but all that ice cream made up for it!

bro, I just finished taking antibiotics for a bacterial respiratory infection (was posted)CableDude wrote:Pain - somewhat on the left side of my neck. I looked in my mouth with a flashlight and it looks kinda swollen.
I know go see a doctor.....
I could barely move my neck, my glands were so swollen. And I felt like dog crap. nasty cough, backache (big time from coughing), chills, fever, headache. (The dr said my throat was very red).
You need to see a dr. You can't guess, and I dunno, but I don't beleive we have any regulars here who are physicians.
btw, you prolly saw my thread on the latest game my landlady is playing w/ the open door in the middle of the night since I started my new job this week.
That bullcrap has been going on every nite this week, always around 2- 2:30 and again at 4. I'm feeling sick again and it's the glands. I spent over $200 less than 2 weeks ago, I finished the meds Sunday. Now I dunno wth I'm gonna do, it's gonna be 2 more weeks until I see a paycheck and there is nowhere that I can get onto for free, the county tells me it will be 2 months until they can give me an appt.
Anway, looks like I have my babble on again bro.
Do yourself a favor, Go see a dr!

Had mine out at 19 after putting up with 5 years of antibiotics GS.
You can see them and if it's the tonsils they get white pustular spots on them.
The doc I was going to at the time wouldn't refer to a surgeon, just medication. The doc e went on holidays and the locum took one look and they were out within the next few days.
It was a great relief.
