Help tweaking my connection..

Post by xmOD »

Hey,

this is the output of the TCP/IP Analyzer.. see wat changes i should make..
Connection is PPPoE running DSL ..
thx

TCP options string = 020405840103030201010402
MTU = 1452
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.
MSS = 1412
MSS is not optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU value.
Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 255600
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits (scale factor of 4)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 63900

For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
519616 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 8)
259808 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 4)
129904 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 2)
64952 (MSS x 46)
bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 10224 kbps (1278 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 4089.6 kbps (511.2 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 51 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

could somebody not help me tweak my connection.. the problem is that when i downlaod anything then the downloads starts at its peak value adn then gradually goes down to 9kbps! after that it again starts increasing slowly and reaches a good value around peak value in about 5 mins! Is this becasue of some setting on my net and can i get a constant download rate?
i don know anything about all teh settings above but i'll be grateful if somebody can help..thx

Which country are you in? What speeds did you pay your ISP to give you?

I am in india and my connection speed is advertised to be 256kbps(slow!) and i usually get a peak download rate of 32kbps download and 6kbps upload... web pages load just fine and fast.. the fluctuating download speed is the only problem..
