Microsoft Flight Simulator X

Post by mountainman »

Well, it's getting near. Anyone anticipating this? I'm already planning to build a new computer when it comes out using the latest components, etc.

Grab the demo here:

Here are some other good links about it (previews, screenies, etc):

It looks awesome!!

(I need a new joystick too. Mine broke.)

Oh man... I'm really not up-to-date on the joysticks and such. I just had a cheap MS one without force feedback. (Yes... CHEAP.)

I have heard good things about the Saitek X52 from some fellow pilots (real ones and sim ones):

And here are some videos of FS X for you to enjoy:

Thanks for the info! I'm sure my old stick will work but I really would like to get something new.

What's holding me back is my outdated vid card. I really have to upgrade. I'm running a GeForce Ti4800SE. I'm at the bottom end of "tolerable".

Yeah... this game is going to be major taxing on just about any video card (if you run higher res, of course).

If it is all it's cracked up to be, I'll build a new system just for that.

(Or maybe I should spend that money on ACTUALLY FLYING A REAL AIRPLANE.)

I still like my logitech extreme 3d pro.

I would really like to see MS revive the combat clight sim off of this engine, teh detail looks, and I havent heard of much negative press from people playing the demo.

I second that. Logitech sticks have been decent for me, durable so far. And I'd love to see combat flight sim spun off of this engine.

Alright, I just finished playing the demo. I likey. :) Seem's to be more user friendly? Loads up about the same time as FS9. Graphics are a bit better, but damn it eats up the processor. But then again, all MS Flight Sims have.

I wasn't aware of the time limit for the demo. I was on final into St. Maartin (the Caribbean landing mission they give ya.) and all of a sudden the demo closed. :irate:

*edit*

Oh yeah, here's a link for amazon.....Deluxe version

http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Flight- ... 66?ie=UTF8

This item will be released on October 17, 2006

Combat wasn't fun with people who had no hand/eye coordination. You couldn't catch them cuz they were never even on the board anymore.

It would be fun though!
