Not as embarassing as being up 3 games and losing a best out of 7.Izzo wrote:How embarrassing...to get swept in a 5 game series.
Abreu is turning into a gem for the Yankees.

Blasphemy!
With the new stadium coming in '10 Liriano and Santana will be longtime residents in the Twins rotation ...and as soon as Garza can learn to shake the nerves and learn when to throw his off-speed/breaking pitches we're gonna be just fine.... Oh! ...I forgot to mention Kevin Slowey ..yet another uber pitcher that is making his way up through the system. The Twins will have an A+ rotation for quite a while. Radke is retiring at the end of the year which will put around 9 Mil into the bank for a free agent.
There is no salary cap in baseball, which is what allows the Yankees to offer big bucks, since Steinbrenner is loaded.Shagster wrote:Don't the Yankees have like a 200 million dollar salary cap and the Red Sox have only like 120 million?
What most people fail to realize is that NY is by far the biggest market in the country, therefore, we have and need the deeper pockets to bring in the talent, no harm in that. Most people complain about that, but hey, even through the horrible years in the 80's, they had one of or if not the biggest payroll in the majors, and they were horrible, nobody complained then though.
Till a cap is implemented, owners should be able to spend whatever the hell they want on whomever they want without being accused of "ruining the game". Unfortunately, there will probably never be a level playing field till that cap is in place.

What makes you think Terry Ryan will allow them to even be entertained by any offers? He'll be giving those guys keys to the new park loooong before they ever seen any green from NY or Boston. You don't let, arguably, the two best pitchers in the game slip through your fingersPrey521 wrote:Line stealer![]()
There will be so much money thrown at these guys, that they will hopefully jump ship, especially if one of the big market money teams offers it (Mets, Yanks, Boston)
Also, they're both latin, so $$$ comes before team faithfulness![]()

Which is exactly why there needs to be a cap ...
Dodgers are doing great out West, they've been on fire as of late.Shagster wrote:When are they gonna place a cap?
And how are the Dodgers doing? I'm not a big baseball fan, but if I had to cheer , it would be for them. Went to a lot of their games as a kid growing up in LA.
The cap talk get's brought up every year I think, but the owners and league officials can never come to an agreement.

If they allowed that to happen, they'd be strung up in public, then stoned! They'd be insane to let them go, but it is possible, stranger things have happened, I can only wishIzzo wrote:What makes you think Terry Ryan will allow them to even be entertained by any offers?
