1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need. For a stand alone pc all you need is Internet Protocol TCP/IP.
2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.
3. ALWAYS connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer and set your duplex mode to "auto". If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.
4. Clean out your temporary internet files with CrapCleaner.
5. Power cycle your modem i.e. unplug it for at least 15 seconds.
6. Download, update and scan with SpyBot S&D 1.4 EXACTLY as mnosteele has explained HERE & Ad-Aware SE 1.06 EXACTLY as mnosteele has explained HERE to remove any spyware then install and update SpywareBlaster 3.4 to stay spyware FREE. YOU MUST USE BOTH AD AWARE & SPYBOT TO ENSURE YOU ARE SPYWARE FREE SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES. If these 2 programs find a lot of things then please post a HijackThis 1.99.1 log for us to look at.
7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in our Help & Tips page.
8. If you have Zone Alarm as a firewall uninstall it and search your pc for the left over files.
9. Install Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.5, it's FREE and uses next to no resources.
10. Do a FREE online virus scan from Kaspersky Webscan, make sure to check the option to use the EXTENDED DATABASE.
11. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates.

thanks for the reply, i took the info you posted and placed it in the sg opt. i do think it slightly helped on my speed test. the test i use is dfw.speedeasy.net and it shows the meter and on my test the range jumps up to about 3800 right from the start but then just stays there throughout the whole test. I am on a router, using a wireless card. I have done all the tweaks i can find on the site, i also use the programs for spyware and i checkl mine more then once a week. Is there any info i should input into cablenut? hm its running decent but for some reason i think it could go a little faster. It seems to have a delay on surfing the web and what not. I also installed the web page tweak from your site as well. Any other tips or idea's i would much appreciate it. Thanks

then don't ask for my help or anyone else then? why are you asking for help when there is factors that is out of my control that could be slowing you down.
I don't' have to help here to be honest this is why I don't want to help anyone here anymore it's bunch ungrateful whiny bastards that don't' take the time to read and figure out how stuff works for your self you don't' even need to ask for my help when it's all in the tweaking tips threads.

Sometimes its a little trail and error. Tweaking your internet connection is alot like overclocking a computer. Setting the settings and testing and more testing ect. I searched the forum for someone that had a similar connection to mine same download speed. I seen that the RWIN mcoffee recommned was a option that was recommened to me by the TCP analyzer so I tried it and it worked and now I am over my caps. The settings he recommened to me helped me out. The settings he recommened to someone else helped me out even more. Remember he is not there to see what exactly is going on with your computer. It might take him more time because he is not there. If you read the forums its self explanatory. Then you will understand what yo do! Try that if you don't like your speed with his settings.
I think Mccoffee is a robot, he keeps saying the same thing to everybody and none of what he tells you to do does any good!
Guess some people need to actually look before they post.
1stTCP Receive Window - 64240
Windows Scaling - uncheck
2ndTCP Receive Window - 128480
Windows Scaling - checked
Then he repeated the second config because its obvious by the analyzer test that things were (not followed, skipped, missed, ignored) pick one.
To zyfix: please try again following the changes mccoffee suggested.

For benchmarking online speeds...use a wired connection for your baseline benchmark, and your tests after each SG TCP Optimizer change or other SG tweak.zyfix wrote:I am on a router, using a wireless card.
Wireless connections are often too much of a variable to bench accurate numbers.
