Help with DSL patches(plz)

Post by Nineball »

Ok guys, I'm sure you've all heard this question a million times or whatever, but please help me.

I have bellsouth ADSL PPPoA and run win 98se, what I was wondering was if I should use the PPPoE tweak or the generic one.

I tryed searching for answers but all I got was threads of other people that asked the same question and got replied to with simple links to other threads which I guess supposedly had the answers, but since they had been moved I couldn't view them.

So just simply answer me please, thanks for your time.

Good question, and I've wondered that myself, but no one seems to know for sure.

Wanna be a guinea pig? :) Backup your registry and give the PPPoE patch a try. Then restore the backup, or use the defualt patch, and give the non-PPPoE patch a try. Which one works best?

I have bellsouth ADSL PPPoA and I tried both. Then one you need to use if you have the USB Speedtouch modem is the non pppoe patch. You are not utilizing an ethernet connection so if you were to use the PPPoE patch, your results will NOT be as good. I tried both and the one that works best for me is the standard one. Remember to back up your registry first though. This is always a good practice!!! ;)
