Freak issue, but not unique. (Bit Torrent related)

Before I get started, heres a few forums I have posted on already which have given troubleshooting ideas, but none have helped:

The symptoms of my issue:
When Bit Torrent runs, (tried numerous clients, all with bandwidth capped.) I am unable to make new connections. This is weird, because my Bit Torrent speeds stay fine (upwards of 300kb/sec is fine to me anyway). Once running a torrent with a decent amount of peers, my web browsing is nearly impossible. I try to goto a website, and all my connect attempts time out. I have tried TCP/IP optimizer, as well as a program to make Windows XP's "half connections" set to 100 as opposed to the default 10. No dice. I am positive all the drivers are up-to-date per nVidia's specs, and the issue persists.

As for hardware changes I've tried a few different hard drive configs. (original being a raid0 array) SATA, and PATA. The SATA with RAID0, the PATA with just one drive. I've tried different ram, a different NIC (three total, including the two onboard ones). I've tried numerous full installs.

At this point it seems the only thing left to do is get a different motherboard, but I'm not sure this would even help. ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and I'm damn near willing to try anything.

Now my computer specs are as follows:

Windows XP + SP2 + all hotfixes.

If you are running xp sp's firewall goto my comptuer control panel firewall advanced make sure that unpnp is checked and allowed in advance also make sure all icmp traffic is allowed and checked.

Try this too if you haven't alredy.

Is that nvida lan mangare instaleld are you running any software firewalls?/

no, I've done all the things you'd think of, shy of swapping out the motherboard.

I've used the same settings, same build of XP, on a diff comp and it didn't have this issue.

Do you limit BT's upload and download speeds?

I wouldnt jump to replacing hardware yet.

It's not hardware related to your system, it's the broadband connection...especially if you have a router. Those torrent softwares will usually overwhelm a home grade broadband router with connections. Do you have one in place?

I'm using a lynksys router yes. But the thing is, my other computers won't lose connectivity while this happens to my comp. And again I stress the fact I have done everything the same as my previous build(s) and never had this issue before. I have also eliminated the router entirely, and the issue remained.

I think this might also happen when I am joining popular online games such as BattleField 2.. as if my computer can't handle all the connections. I've disconnected and had to rejoin the game after JUST joining it, numerous times.

Okay I'm pretty certain its an incoming connection problem now. When I limit my BT connections to 10 peers per torrent, the issue almost goes away. I can still use the web mostly, and have few hiccups with it. However, if I'm playing an online game like BattleField 2, when joining I often lose connection entirely and have to rejoin again. It seems to be a related issue, and I've done nearly everything in my power to attempt to fix it.

Your link says defaults are 2 and 4, mine are at 10 on both keys. (MaxConnectionsPerServer, MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server)

i had a few probs like yours i just changed to azureus and they went away.

I've tried a few. But I mainly use uTorrent. The thing is, on my other computer with the same exact settings for windows, I didn't have this problem. So, I'm quite certain its motherboard related.

obviously it's the half tcp connections problems. download a patch to raise the connections to at least 100.

wow you know of PCs true? i say this because me and my brother have the same conection(Cable Modem at 512kbps) and when we download from Torrent sites(he use Azureus and i use Bit Comet) he download the vast mayority of time at 24kbs and i download at 55kbs,he have a firewall router because he have a LAN in his office,he,s web browsing is too slow and i browse without downspeed,i noticed since the first day of this new conections that my PC is always more fast in download and browse than my brothers PC,i think and i say him,maybe the router is the problem,can you help me for give him a little help,thank,s in advance and excuse my english.
