ATI All-in-wonder X600PRO PCIEx16

Post by MadMax350 »

I got this ATI card for the PC I just built because I thought it would be cool to be able to put home video from analog devices straight onto my PC which I could then burn to a DVD. Well I have had this system up and running for a little under a week and I can't even use the TV tuner portion of the card, let alone transfer analog video to my PC.

As it turns out the problem appears to be some kind of conflict either this card, or the ATI's software has with my system. To sum it up: I can't install the ATI Catalyst Control Center otherwise some of my older games (like Janes WWII Fighters) won't work (no display but I have sound). Furthermore, I can't install ATI Multimedia Center (TV Tuner) because it locks up my PC during the installation process.

I have been in communication with ATI Technical Support about this issue but they don't seem to understand my issue. They told me to download their diagnostic tools so I could create a Problem Report. Well I tried to run the Problem Report generator, and it too locked up my PC (which forces me to perform a hard-reset). I contacted ATI Tech and told them about this but they replied saying they needed me to run that same program that locks up my PC! So I replied AGAIN saying for the second time :rtfm: I cannot run their problem report generator utility because it locks up my PC.

I was wondering if anyone else has had these same issues and what conclusions you came to. At this point I realize I should have just gotten a seperate tuner card and spent a little more money on a real video card like a Nvidia.

Did you remove the previous video card's drivers and other software completely?
