Mastor Boot Record (MBR)

Post by onetopdog »

I have WIN2K Pro and WinXP loaded on one hard disk. Each in its own partition. With only 2 partitions on the disk. WIN2K Pro went on first then WINXP. WINXP fixed up the (what I will call a splash screen) the option to pick my OS to boot to with a time limit or it would boot the default OS which is WINXP. I want to EDIT it if I can and have WIN2K Pro to be the DEFAULT and reduce the time also it waits on my imput. Any way to do it with out much danger?

P.S. I have used GRUB and edited it several times when I had Linux and Windows on the same box. :)

in xp:
Right-click My Computer, then Properties, to get the System Properties window.
Select the Advanced tab, then Startup and Recovery.
At the top of the window is the System Startup box where you can choose:
The default OS that will load if you make no choice on boot.
The time the boot menu stays up before the default is executed.
The menu labels for each of your OS’s.
