Post by vvarrior »

Which SCSI controller do you recommend for performance ? I want to get full speeds out of this 68 pin HD D-Sub Maxtor Atlas 15K II - hard drive - 36.7 GB - Ultra320 SCSI (320mbps) whats the best bang for the buck?

( for a PCI Slot )

i use an adaptec 29160 card from ebay, the prices are right if ya search for them.

i think i paid about $45 shipped or so.

i run 2 maxtor ultra160 drives and it seems to work for me.

29160's are great workhorses.....nice, compatible, reliable.

Don't fret about getting a 320 controller....not in a standard PCI slot, you'll never even get neeeeear taxing the 29160.

Got one in my hand right now..sitting on my desk...gonna relocate it to my home server in a week or so.
