I haven't seen a poll elsewhere conducted on this matter but just out of curiousity who here uses FireFox? Seems like a lot from what I've seen in passing.

Probably right about that but you do find the Opera users here and there now that it's free. Personally, I find FF outstanding to handle all of my browsing needs. And with the exception of those that aren't on board yet with making their websites FF friendly, that is really my main b1tch with the browser.

It has a cooler logo than IE

:D

Try it, you'll like it. Imports everything from IE if you prompt it to, couldn't be more painless.

So your browser has never been hijacked by spyware/malware?

Allow me to shamelessly promote FF's sister...Thunderbird The email app that is taking over the world. I recently switched from Outlook & OE to T-bird b/c of an OE f*ckup and have not looked back since.

How do you know it hasn't been. Have you run any spyware apps such as Ad Aware

I recently jacked an unprotected laptop into the Net...no AV, no firewall, nothing. And browsed with IE. It took all of 5 minutes before the browser was hijacked and the system was hit with assorted nasties virii/worms. Maybe you just aren't paying attention or you restrict your Net browsing to this site, but I have difficulty believing that your browser has never been hijacked, particularly if you are on your system as opposed to say one at school or the ofc or a box that is secured by someone else.

oh i have gotten little adware deals and tracking cookies before, but never a browser hijacker.

i run through a router, use AVG and make sure to do any security updates before plugging a new system into the web.

and i do go to plenty of "other" sites :D

Maybe for now FF hasn't peaked the interests of referers yet but give it some time and you will be seeing them make modifications to include Firefox as well. Adware is not aimless, it has a goal and thats profit, and when enough people start using it and more websites gear towards FF users you WILL see more infections. Thats a guarantee .

Correct, never had my IE hosed.

Gave FF a try through several versions,...finally got a bit stable with 1.02 or so to 1.06...started crashing again with 1.07, right about the time Opera adware free version was released...and love Opera so far.

Biggest gripe is FF loads graphics too slowly, and another huge gripe is the download manager...doesn't let me open downloaded files on the fly like IE does...can't download into memory and run it.

FF looked cool with the "Brushed" theme though...liked the looks of that.

Yep same exact reason that YOSC stated, I really love Opera now that it is totally free

Speed to me most important especailly when it comes to grpahics and going back and forth on websites. That and tabbed browsing, which Opera has both.

Firefox is a browser, not like internet explorer, not like opera, it's firefox

Opera is easier to edit and control, IE is out to lunch, and opera is the code

:thumb:

Firefox builds on added...I hve SG above google in my firefox.

It works till when your isp sais it does not work, then format, install win.3.11

I use Firefox because my Bro d/l it on my computer last time he was here and he swears by it.

Says the same thing about Linux...but I'll keep Windows for now.

Up top, the drop down menu for "Bookmarks"...there's a "Manage bookmarks" part where you can File==>Import..and select where to import from. It then (annoyingly) puts them in a subfolder...but you can select and drag 'n drop them into the root of the bookmarks.

One glitch I did notice about Opera...it doesn't seem to keep the "home page" very well, often opens up on the page you last had open. And it doesn't have a "Home" button...at least I haven't found it yet.
