Yeah that's quite the piece of history. It says it was used from Diver Down to OU812.

About the time that Van Halen released their first album, I got a chance to see them in a small venue here...1978 maybe? Eddie set his amp on fire while playing "Ice Cream Man". I do mean, set it on fire. There was smoke all over the venue and the stage was quite lit up. Don't remember the specifics but it seems a roadie jumped up on stage with a fire extuingisher and put it out. The fire deparment cleared the venue for a bit and the band change out the amp for another lent to them by another musican in town....(rumor?)

Anyway....

it still seems like yesterday. :D

Man that musta been cool to see. I got into them pretty heavily towards the end of high school, early college. Still really enjoy listening to their early stuff. Used to try to play a lot of Eddy on my guitar...back when I used to play. I was that good of a solo-ist...but I managed to learn the 2nd half of eruption... the hammer-on part on the second half.

I'm surprised that Ed's attorneys hadn't stop the bidding. Almost every auction from ebay that has the words "Eddie Van Halen" get shut down. That is a great looking amp.
