My HD disappeared also with bad consequences - need help

Post by maroon »

I figured no big deal I'll just back up to a restore point a week ago when it was still there and that should fix it. Now windows won't load. The comp stops at a blue screen telling me to do a chkdsk /f. The only problem with that is I can't even get to a command prompt to even try a chkdsk. On a restart it goes through the bios and then it bluescreens.

I think the problem is that I had my swapfile on this drive. I did have a very small swapfile on my c: drive tho. Anyone know how I can get back to my desktop without doing a /format and reinstall?

Boot from your XP CD and do a repair or boot to the recovery console and see if you can run chkdsk from there.
I don't know the same things you don't know.

You may want to run a diagnostic program on your hard drive. You should be able to download one from the drive makers site.
