Have you tried the speedguide.net patches?

Have you called RR and asked them what your caps are? Because you will NEVER go faster then what your caps are set at...

Yes I have tried the s_guide, cablenut patches same to give me more of an increase though, and s_guide slowed me down so I went back to default.

Well I ran outside to my driveway after they had finished setting up the modem and were about to leave and gave them the news that I was only getting 600k/s and they said, "Wow thats slow, you should go atleast fasteer than 1.5, but give it a few hours to speed up since you just signed on"
Well its been a few hours and i see absoloutely no increase.

If you have Win2K and RR, the Win2K Enhancer from Speedcorp is awesome. The best Tweak for my setup.

Paste a trace route to lets say...speedguide.net. We can tell then if the problem is in the RR network, or where the problem is.

I would look into replacing your coaxial cabling if you have multiple lines running into your home. Faulty cabling will cause signal level decreases that could result in degrading speed performance.

Well at first when they came to install it the cable outlet didn't even carry a line, but then they cut it and pulled it so they hooked up the cable line to the outlet, do you think this could be it?>

I just noticed your trace, and there is really no latency that would slow you down. I would definitely look into having your cable service provider check your wiring.

If they did a sloppy job about it, I'd definitely say that's the root of the problem.

Well what he did was took out his needle nose plyers and just pinched on the cable and pulled as hard as he could and eventually the cable came out and he connected it to the outlet. do you conside that sloppy?

I have RR here in San Antonio, and I couldn't get 600k if I tried! that would be extremely fast for me. If I ever get better than 400 I'm happy. I think it's the way RR does business. I've tried all these tweaks as wel, and nothing made an obvious difference. I've called and asked them thei cap, but they wont tell me. they sidestep the question and wont give you a direct answer. I think Road Runner just sux0rs!!

If you used the patches. One is all you should need. If so remove them with default patch. Then back the reg up again. Try one at a time. In between them use the default Patch between each one till you hit the right one. You can also try different settings with these patches if you know how to find them in the reg,Sometimes this will help to. Not all system responed the same to the patches. If you do not not no how to edit the reg .Ask some one wil be willing to help! :) Hope this helps you out a little.

I would get the cable people out there, have them check every cable, they have alittle tester that tells them the signal from the pole to your house and after the split, the TV/ Cable is a splitter, have then check with there tester the signal going to your modem, right at your computer, that will tell them if they have right spitter on or not. If it's not that my friend I believe the R word is the only thing left. :)
