Sorry for misleading you guys it turns out the user has att worldnet service as his provider is there a way he can access the internet wirelessly through his laptop without the use of a phone jack? If not, is there any provider that can? The laptop does have wifi but I don't want him to have to hunt down wifi spots just to get on..

As for laptops, if you want broadband speeds throughout major metro areas, Verizon may have coverage in your area. Up here near my, I've setup quite a few clients on their packages, it's excellent. PCMCIA card you install in the laptop, early models got around ISDN speeds, later models are getting near broadband speeds. Usually 2x packages you can sign up for, a set amount of minutes per month for 49 bucks or so, and an all you can eat plan for about 89 bucks per month.
