PC Problem

hey, i had this old amd pc, 1800+ with 1 GB ram, and a 32MB graphics card. We had a flood in the basement and the pc mobo fried. I bought a new case, motherboard, GRaphcics card, and CPU, and now its at athlon 2700+, 1 GB ram, 64MB nvideo mx420, but i couldn't get the computer to boot. I even tried mobo and graphics card only. It will turn on, and i have tried many PSUs, but it does not do anything. Even the Graphics Card fan turns on, but i can't get it to post, cuz the graphics card isnt working. I tried 3-4 other graphics cards, and it still didnt work. Do I have a Bad MOBO?

I have had this happen to me before. I had a bad Graphics card, and it fried the AGP port on the MOBO.

AM i installing the parts wrong? How come this is happening again.

Also, you're supposed to plugin both the 12V and regular ATX power to the PSU rigth?

Try mobo and cpu only. Then mobo, cpu and RAM. Then add vid card, etc. You will find the culprit that way.

Also clear CMOS and try again.

ive cleared CMOS a TON. the thing is i can never get anything to show at all.

Correct me if im wrong, if u only got an AGP card in the MOBO, you should be able to post and see the BIOS, right? well, when i turn on the computer with just the MOBO and the AGP card, the agp card fans turn on and the mobo turns on, but i dont see a post. This is with only the AGP card and the mobo, and the ATX 12V power and the regular ATX power cable from the 400 watt PSU. Is the MOBO bad?

As i have said before, just to reword, this has happened to me before.
I built a pc and everything was fine, but somehow i installed the AGP card bad and it blew the AGP socket for the mobo.

COuld this be the issue?

I no the CPU aint bad, cuz its new and i tried a couple laying around, the ram is corsair and has lights on it, and they were flashing, so the ram is fine. So is it the MOBO?

How can I make sure This dont happen again. Can you guys remind me of anything if forgeting when in install the MOBO in the case?

I screw the case in, I plug the Case Power and REset switches in the MOBO, I plug the PSU power cables into the MOBO, and then i slid the AGP card in, and boom it dont work

PLZ HELP!

^! Summary. I cant get my comp to boot with just Graphics Card. I tested 3 Graphics cards, is my MOBO bad? what all do u need for the monitor to show anything on screen.

If you have tried different psu's and vga's, and are not getting any beeps, then, yes, you mobo is probably bad...

thx, well... iv'e RMA'ed the motherboard.For some reason ABIT mobo's never work for me. I usually use ASUS and they work perfectly with just the Graphics card. Does the Abit MOBOs require u to have a CPU, RAM, HD, and Graphics card in to work? I could only get the MOBO to beep the first time i turned it on (with everything in) I quickly turned the PC off, and then it wouldn't beep anymore.

Can pepole give me pointers as to what I may be doing wrong when i INstall the PC? Or is there something about ABit MOBOs that are different than ASUS?

When I get my Mobo back, Should i first try and install the PC with just the PSU, MOBO, and GPU?
