Heat issues

Post by striker8000 »

the last week has been about 90 degrees here, and I've been having trouble with my main computer overheating...not bad, just bad enough that I had to shut it down last night to keep from burning up anything of importance. looks like I'm going to need a better cooling system before summer actually gets here...

it's my main folder (about 80% of my WU's) so having to shut it down for any length of time is really :irate: )

time to start looking at options, gotta keep it cool.

found it...

not enough cooling fans built into the case, the whole thing was overheating
one large table fan...all is well (for another 10 degrees, at least), will be drilling holes for more case fans at some point in the near future

processor's an Athlon xp 2800+ the whole computer is a year old, I know the heatsink is designed to handle up to a 3000+, all fans are running stable (no oddball sounds, fan control software shows no drops in fan speed).

looks like I can kick myself for not planning for the summertime
